Deb Wilson Tofias / Watercolors

Deb has clearly discovered the rewards creativity gives back, and found a way to fit it into her busy life. We all should be so lucky. We asked her to to share a bit about her creative path.

This is what she wrote:

“Although I see myself as creative and a “maker”, I don’t consider myself an artist.  I have been doing water color painting for probably 15 years, and had looked forward to being able to do once I retired. However, I have been so busy in retirement that I find I need to commit time to paint by painting in a class, or, more recently, painting with 2 buddies, so that I keep up with it.  I am constantly taking photos of scenes, places, houses I would like to paint, and the photography often becomes an additional  pleasant creative pursuit.

I most enjoy the paintings  when I have an emotional attachment to the subject.  I do find watercolor painting a challenge, and although I don’t ever expect to be “good, I do hope I will  eventually improve my skills.”
