We asked Roger to share a bit of his refreshing outlook on creativity, and how it has impacted his work.

This is what he wrote:

Roger Sakolove: Creative Philosophy

“My parents introduced me to the creative arts at a young age, and while advertising (copywriting) was my professional focus, I have always loved and admired artists.

During my junior year Middlebury Winter Term, I took Oil Painting with Professor Muirhead and became hooked on painting.

Now, I enjoy watercolor for its ethereal nature, transparency and immediacy. I am still learning about this medium, which can be difficult to manage. But I’ve also learned to literally go with the flow. Watercolor has a mind of its own, offering great risks and rewards. Mistakes can be great! Enjoy (and even take credit for) them!

Note: During COVID, my wife Scotti and I created a series of “faux” travel videos, when our trip to Tuscany, Italy was canceled. I’ve included a sampling for your entertainment.”
